Shackdweller Project
In an effort to address long-standing housing challenges, the Bethanie Village Council has actively supported the Shackdweller Project, a community-focused initiative aimed at providing secure shelter and improving living conditions for vulnerable households. Despite the partial implementation of the earlier Strategic Plan, this project stands out as one of the Council’s meaningful achievements towards social upliftment.
Empowering Communities Through Better Housing
The Shackdweller Project enables residents living in informal structures to gradually transition to safer and more stable housing solutions. Through coordinated support, serviced plots, and incremental building assistance, the initiative empowers families to create dignified living spaces.
The image above shows structures associated with the project, illustrating ongoing construction activities and the development of new home foundations. These efforts are examples of the Council’s dedication to fostering improved social well-being.
A Step Toward Inclusive Development
Adequate housing is fundamental to community growth, and this project contributes directly to improved health, safety, and security for local residents. As the Shackdweller Project progresses, it continues to reinforce the Council’s long-term goal of ensuring that no community member is left behind.
